KVSAR Requirements To Join

Requirements

• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No Criminal Background
• No Current Drug Use
• Must hold a California Drivers License
• Must be able to pass a Medical Exam
• Must be committed to maintaining mandatory minimums for training
  • 50% of prescheduled meetings, PR events, and trainings
    • Equivalent to 50% of 1 meeting, 1 training, and 1 PR event a month

• Attend 3 Meetings

  • Meetings are held monthly on the 4th Wednesday of each month

  • No Meetings in the months of November or December

• Attend 3 Trainings

  • Trainings are held the Saturday following the meeting

  • Nov and Dec are scheduled to avoid holidays

• Interview with the Board of Directors

  • The Board will determine eligibility into the unit

  • If the Board recommends membership they will forward their recommendation to the Sheriff's Department

• Backgrounds with the Sheriff's Department

  • You will be given a background packet that must be completed and returned to the Sheriff's Department

  • You must follow the instructions and process as directed by the Department

  • The Investigator will forward a recommendation to the Board

  • Once completed you will be eligible for a medical exam

• Medical Exam by a Department Physician

• Be Sworn In By Approved Member of the Sheriff's Department
